TEACHING METHOD
The aim of every lesson is to be thought provoking because they are the lessons that you will remember for the most - this is one of the secret to success of Synergy students. Coupled with a targeted approach to teaching science Synergy allows students to understand rather then memorise.

Gary's HSC SCIENCE SUCCESS
Before I tell you the secrets to achieving success in the HSC, I would like to tell you a story about how I achieved HSC success.
A wrong decision can be the beginning or end to a lifestyle. In my 10th grade, I virtually ended my career in science by nearly selecting every other course except for physics and chemistry. The reason for decision was because from year 7 to 10, I was constantly ranked bottom 10 for science. Attending one of Sydney's prestigious selective schools, the smart thing to do was to give up. However, with the support from my family and teachers I decided to take on the challenge. In year 11, I remember in my first chemistry exam I came dead last (68/68) even though I studied hard and followed the advice my teachers gave me. I felt foolish and was extremely confused in why my efforts didn't pay off. Eventually, I figured out that the advice my teachers gave me wasn't very helpful. So instead, I decide to embark on my own journey. I setup a goal for myself, which was to be the top of my grade in physics and chemistry by the end of year 12.
Using year 11 as a testing zone, I tried a wide cocktail of strategies to achieve my goal. What I discovered was that there is a way to study efficiently and effectively without spending countless hours. From coming dead last my ranks slowly lifted to the top 20 of my grade by the end of year 11.
Throughout year 12 my ranks continued to rise after each exam and by the end my trials I was ranked top 3 for both Physics and Chemistry. However, this wasn't enough and by continually tweaking my strategy I eventually received state ranking marks for my HSC exam in Physics/Chemistry but due to my rank at school, my overall mark was pulled down to the mid band 6 area.
In essence the secret to my strategy was to always be clear and concise when answering questions. Many students study really hard and know all their content but only achieve a mere band 4 or 5. The reason behind this is because of their exam approach, in which most students literally 'spray' everything they know onto the answer booklet. At many coaching colleges, this is also the approach they've taken. Out of the thousands of students they tutor, only a handful receive a band 6.
Taking a targeted approach is the secret to success. At Synergy, the way you are taught is to be concise. Not only are you taught the theory from first principles but there is a break down of every question to show you where the marks are allocated. At the end, the answers are consolidated to give you the ultimate band 6 answer which guarantees you full marks.
The reason why so many Synergy students are so successful with their HSC is because of this frequent exposure. Every class they attend, they understand that they are being trained for success.
