- Metal + Acid -> Salt + Water
- Example: Mg(s) + H2SO4 -> MgS04(s) + H2(g)

LIQUID WATER
- Metal + Water -> Metal Hydroxide + Hydrogen Gas
- Remember that the metal needs to be reactive enough to react with liquid water
- EXAMPLE: K(s) + H2O(l) -> KOH(s) + H2(g)
- ONLY K, Na, Li, Ca react with cold water
STEAM
- Metal + Steam -> Metal Oxide + Hydrogen Gas
- Metals in the reactivity series from magnesium to iron react with steam - H2O(g) BUT NOT LIQUID WATER
EXAMPLES:

Zn(s) + H2O(g) -> ZnO(s) + H2(g)
